I agree with you 100% and think it's an important issue to be
addressed immediately. It's a bad sign when the top young players in
our country find out that our national championship gets almost no
signifigant coverage in any way. These events should be glorified more,
and I don't think it would cost very much at all to make this happen.

Mr. Haas takes the group to task for the lack of new controversies
for him to salivate over. How about this: once again this year, as has
been the case several times in recent years, the U.S. Junior and Cadet
Championships were held as "stealth" events.
There was no web coverage of these tournaments that I have been able
to find. No games have been published. Coverage was announced for ICC
but did not materialize, as far as I can determine. There is a press
release about Daniel Fernandez winning the U.S. Junior - but it is
hidden on an inside page of the USCF web site. There is no announcement
about the Cadet winner. Oh yes, many of the strongest players qualified
for these events were not able to participate because SCHOOL WASN'T OUT
YET!
Another shoddy, disgraceful performance by the USCF office in
putting these events together. Our two national championship events for
juniors deserve better than this.
