Default What you won't read in Chess Life

NOT UP TO CHESS LIFE STANDARDS!

So, if these columns aren't up to Chess Life
standards, then it just makes sense that the
editor wouldn't use them. -- Tom Martinak

One doubts that Editor Dan Lucas entertains
views regarding GM Larry Evans' column beyond this
one: it had to be dropped ON SCHEDULE.

True enough, Chess Life was obliged to pay GM
Evans for four columns that it did not use, and it did
not use them for two reasons:

1. NOW was the moment to get rid of the last independent,
dissenting voice in the magazine.

2. Evans answered questions of a kind that are no longer to be
permitted in Chess Life.

If the bosses of the new editor, so they reasoned, waited
another three or four months, anything might happen.

The new editor gave GM Evans a reason for dropping the
column that was false on its face, and GM Benjamin's
replacement Q&A will be appearing in Chess Life in good time.

Tom Martinak and the claque are offering the typical junk.
There is every reason to imagine that readers would have
enjoyed GM Evans' columns that were paid for but will not be
appearing -- reasons based on every single survey ever taken
of the readership and enormous anecdotal evidence, not to
mention GM Evans continuing to speak before full houses
whenever he appears at tournaments as a guest.

There is no particular reason to imagine that most readers
will enjoy replacement pages, though that remains to be seen.

HAPPY TALK IS HERE AGAIN
