Irony of Tim Hanke's Victory

Just to explain: At the conclusion of the delegate's meeting in Los
Angeles on August 11, there will be a meeting of the new Executive
Board. This meeting will traditionally last two days. This means that
Mr. Hanke will be entitled to receive reimbursement for that ONE NIGHT
in the hotel. He will also be entitled to be reimbursed for his air
ticket back to Boston from that meeting.

Uh, this makes no sense, Sam. He somehow has to GET to the meeting, so
round-trip reimbursement is sensible. Secondarily, assuming the EB meeting
begins in the morning, it is also reasonable to assume that Hanke would have to
arrive at least one day early and would need two nights in the hotel. Depending
on how late the meetings last, it may also be reasonable to assume that he
spends another night in the hotel before flying back.
I understand both your point and Tim's. Truth is that we should probably have
this election in the spring and EB members should be seated at the start of the
fiscal year. Tim was mistaken when he thought his entire trip would be picked
up by USCF, as were other candidates, and that is unfortunate. It does show a
certain lack of experience by both Tim and Mike. I've been to few meetings and
I was aware of that, for example.
But even so, your counter-argument goes too far the other direction and is
absurd. To assume that we would pay to RETURN an EB member from the meeting,
but not for him or her to GET there is nonsense. If that is the policy, it is a
bad one.
