"mizunge" (sic), to his favourite anti-intellectual opening repetoire.

That was the spelling given by a CBS report for an African slang word which
translates to "whitey". The fact that Nick didn't know what it means lends
credence to the notion that he is a fraud.

don't know anything about the context or the accuracy of that "CBS report".
A Google search for "mizunge" and "CBS" found nothing at all about it.
Can StanB cite a specific reference for his "CBS report"?

But I do know that, in fact, "mzungu" (not "mizunge") is a Swahili word for
a foreigner (not necessarily a European). An African American tourist may
be regarded as a "mzungu" in Kenya or Tanzania.
