Oh boy, welcome to the United Scholastic Chess Federation. The kiddie
herders are ready to take over. I'm moving to Sarasota and joining
Haasie in his kiddie-proof bomb shelter.

Hyperbole aside now, I'd be very interested to see what this quartet
thinks they can do for me as an adult chess player, and what can they
plant to do for professional chess in this country. The US Championship
seems dead in the water, the last released plan was an inane and insane
internet knockout format culminating in a match in Vegas.

It may be profitable to milk the scholastic world for as much money as
possible, but in the end all you do is spin your wheels servicing the
youngsters who invevitably leave chess.

Also the incredible conflict of interests here are astounding. The
USCF has paid a lot of money to the SPF and if Truong and Polgar are
elected that would essentially put the SPF on the board. Though I like
Bauer, I'd be hard pressed to vote for this group unless they can
convince me they can do something other than push chess in schools
which does nothing for me. Convince me that they can ethically still
deal with the SPF and that's gonna be a large pill to swallow.

I reckon though that cult of personality will win the day as always.
For good, or for ill.

And I'm not a politico, or in the pay of the shadow chess
government(which meets Wednesday nights at Subway) out to destroy Susan
Polgar either. Just a very skeptical voter looking after my interests
and wanting to be convinced.
