Default chess data ?

You're a mathematician and/or statistician, right?

I want to know the following data:
in a set of say: 1000 games

Which 1000 games? Played by whom? Strong Grandmasters or very weak
players such as I am?

(a) how many pawns were killed?
(b) how many knights, quenns etc ...

is there any database awailable ???

There are chess databases available, but they are not designed to
perform such tasks. Rather, they are designed to help chess players do
the things that chess players do.

Looks like you'll have to write the code yourself, or maybe devise a
formula or macro to use in Wolfram's Mathematica...

Lots of luck!

any help would be appriciated
