THe only thing I did was uninstall an old Fritz program, but I doubt
the programs share .DLLs Maybe it's time I switch to SCID if I don't
hear anything from here...

I tried SCID and found it lacking since there's no way to make the
Analysis window "stick" to the main window; instead it remains as a
child window that is reduced, making it hard to see side by side with
the main window.
