Revision #2: The US government may at times be vindictive, but it is
hardly "Talmudic." The US Consitution is based on ideas of the
European Elnilghtenment, not on a collection of rabbinical
commentaries.

They are not reporting
the disgraceful fact that at the time of his death, Bobby
was a hunted fugitive, allegedly for playing a chess game
in Yugolsavia [sic]

Revision #3: Fischer "alledgedly played a chess game"? Yo, Hoffman
-- it's an established fact he played a whole match, 30 games, in
Yugoslavia in 19992.

Revision #4: Bill clinton's permission, or lack thereof, is entirely
irrelevant. In 1992 the US President was George Herbert Walker Bush.

Here is the letter I wrote to the editor of the NY Times
this morning, protesting their whitewashed obituary.

To the Editor

The New York Times' Jan. 18 obituary for Bobby Fischer
makes almost no mention of how the U.S. government hounded
him across the globe,

Revision #5: What "hounding"? AFAIK, after 1992, the US government
undertook no active pursuit of Fischer for over a decade. He was left
alone in self-imposed exile, traveling freely around the world on an
American passport, with no attempts at extradition.

When he died he was a fugitive wanted -- since the
1990s -- by the U.S. government, on trumped up charges
related more to his opposition to Judaism and Zionism than
to his having played chess in Yugoslavia while that nation
was under sanctions.

Riiiight. By that logic, every anti-Semite in the USA (and there are
plenty of them) ought to be under federal indictment. They aren't.

Moreover, you claim that his mother was Judaic. I have a
letter from him stating that he was not of Judaic descent,
an assertion he maintained throughout his life.

Revision #6: Fischer can assert all he wants, but one does not
choose one's parents. His were Regina Fischer and Paul Nemenyi,
*_both_* Jewish. Fischer chose not to practice the Jewish religion,
but that has no bearing on his ancestry.

inconsistent, eh?

Please list the other "national chess heroes" the USA has jailed.
