I have converted my ICC account into a public computer account. I
am now running the latest released version of Rybka with Chess
Assistant 9.1 as the interface. The account's rating has sky
rocketed as a result. It is at 2823 in blitz at this point. That
is without any sort of optimizing -- just fresh out of the box.

I am just running on a laptop, so I do not expect to reach the same
rating as Transwarp which is around 3700~. However, already my
engine is rated higher than many human GMs.

Describing this as "my engine" is like saying that you bought a volume
of Shakespeare and that "my plays" are better than most modern
playwrights.

Dave.

Dave,

I know I didn't write the software. The authors have no fear of me
claiming any part of their intellectual work. But I am having the fun.
It is my engine in the sense that I bought it, operate it, and will
eventually have some fun tinkering with the various configuration
options, and the customizable opening repertoire.

I met a guy on ICC that was running a 64 bit version of Rybka. He has a
much different attitude than what you usually see in chess players. He
is a race car enthusiast. So to him comparing features of a chess
engine is like comparing parts of a race car... Who has the best
carburetor etc. A neat guy and a refreshing change!
