If he had claimed that she had given *birth* to 300,000 children,
*that* really would have been "one of the most preposterous,
ridiculous and absurd claims imaginable". But he didn't, although the
title of your post could be taken as implying that. Even if Mr.
Channing is making false claims, one should still be careful not to,
in turn, appear to be making false claims about him!
