* Actually, Sanny, the name "Grand Chess" is already taken. It refers
to a game designed by Christiaan Freeling in 1984. It has a 10x10
board and two extra peices, the Marshall (R+N powers) and the Cardinal
(B+N). The opening array is unusual:
And it has gotten good reviews. *I am in favor of more chess
variantes, but the names need to be watched carefully.
* There is also a game called Grandchess (aka Ministers), copyrighted
in 1986 by Corinthian Games. It has a 9x9 board, with an extra queen;
the two queens, called ministers, stand on either side of their king.
It actually was copyrighted with that name? *Interesting.
* For your game, I would suggest the name Diplopia Chess. And here is
your theme song:

That song brings back memories of an Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode
where the they had a Foreigner belt that gave whomever wore the belt
powers derived from Foreigner songs. *This included giving other
people Double Vision, making them "Cold as Ice" and Mindgames was
particularly deadly.
I can imagine. "Hot-Blooded" would also be unpleasant. On the other
hand, "I Want to Know What Love Is" could be very nice.
My own favorite along such lines was a "Red Meat" comic strip some
years back. An old geeky guy in a bolo tie stares out from the page.
He speaks:
"Remember the old comic strip hero, the Human Torch, who could say
'Flame on!' and set hisself on fire? I saw a guy like that the other
day.
"Only he didn't have no 'flame on' super powers. He was just a
regular guy on fire."
