Should a former president of the Sexual Freedom League be anexecutive in chess? Was Sam Sloan this?
I would like to point out that the charges were dropped or dismissed.
I was never convicted of anything.
Also, the two teenagers never got into my party. They were refused at
the door by the security guard. (Mike Goodall was not there this
time.) They had obtained bottles of beer which they had been caught by
the police drinking outside my house from a local store. I never had
bottled beer in my parties.
The fact that there was a high school across the street (a major
thoroughfare) was a pure coincidence as my parties were always held on
Saturday nights. I never allowed underaged people or any kinds of
drugs (especially not marijuana) in my parties. Sex was perfectly
legal but I had to be careful to avoid anything remotely illegal.
However, as a result of this, I did close down and move out of the
"orgy house". It was later converted into doctor's offices, which it
is today. I did move to Emeryville. I held only one party there (which
turned out to be one of my best and greatest parties. I wish I could
remember the names of all those those girls. Perhaps Garth will tell
me.) I decided to leave Berkeley. I spent the summer or 1967 studying
intensive Spanish at the Monterey Institute of Foreign Studies in
Monterey California and at the end of that year I moved to New York
City.
