So for a few dollars less than the cost of Fritz 11 (which is
currently $58 including shipping from Cajun Chess, as one example),
you can play chess at GitClub for a year. Of course, if you buy Fritz
11, a one year subscription to PlayChess.com is also included.

So which option should a person choose? Fritz 11 plus a year of play
at playchess for $58, or a year of play at GitClub for $50?

Just a word of warning: Fritz 11 is not going
to be an easy mark; in order to win, you may
find yourself ordering the multi-processor
version of Deep Rybka, and giving yourself
extra time. But you can just play other
humans at playchess... . ;D

Sanny ---- you need to understand your value proposition relative to
competing value propositions.

I told Sanny long ago that he should use
the Sam Sloan model, which is to place
paid advertisements on his site and then
get people there by letting them play
psuedo-chess for free. Some Web sites
will do an "exchange": you place a link to
their site on yours, and they will place a
link to your site on theirs.

Another idea is to have pop-up ads
appear, say, every time you put the
GetClub computer in check: an Oreo
cookie appears in the window, saying
"buy more Oreo cookies!". I know it
won't work, but it might train players to
avoid attacking the computer's King... .
