The thing to do is watch for FICS tournaments with longer time
controls. There are a number of them with 20 minute controls, which
is at least an improvement on blitz. There is also a weekly tourney
with 45 minute controls. And you can look into the 45 45 league, and
the Slow Time Control Bunch which sponsors weekly 60 minute games.

There are definitely opportunities for relatively longer games, you
just have to grab them.

Another good option is, depending where you live, to look for a local
chess club and get involved. Live over the board play is a much
different experience and well worth the time and effort. Most
communities of any size have some sort of club.

Oh, I would recommend that you skip GitClub. Sanny spams all over the
place whenever anyone asks for advice on where to play or how to learn.
