SO WHAT?
About the many terrible threats and abuse Susan's
children are suffering.... -- Brian Lafferty
This posting by Brian Lafferty gives me a chance
to talk about an earlier attack on Truong and
Polgar over the treatment of Susan's children.
Apparently the courts, which today have managed
to wedge their way increasingly into private homes,
adopted some remedy because it was reported that
Tabasco or some peppery compound were used as
punishments.
So what? That was my reaction.
As a kid, I received one whipping from my father
-- who today at 91 1/2 lives with us more or less
happily here in Kuala Lumpur -- that led to bad
blistering and infected wounds on the back of my legs.
I had to go to a doctor for injections and treatments.
Of course, no court ever became involved.
I can report that I never repeated the noxious
behavior (slinging an Italian meatball, well-sauced,
with a spoon that landed between the heads
of my parents and lodged in the back collar of a
restaurant customer seated behind my parents) that
led to the "child abuse."
Over here in SE Asia, using red peppers for
punishment purposes is not unusual among parents
and takes the place of beatings.
Now, don't get me wrong. I am NOT defending
Truong-Polgar as parents. They may be monsters
or ethereal, diaphanous angels of the finest gossamer
-- for all I know.
My objection is to the entire business of using an
American court ruling to tar and feather parents. Our
courts go way too far in trying to push the power of
government into private homes and, as at Waco and Ruby
Ridge, will tell lies beyond lies to pursue an agenda,
which may include mass arrest or murder of resisters
or polygamists.
..
Several years back, while in Bangkok, we were
visiting some American friends and got caught in an
October cloudburst. The streets were five feet deep
in water. Our two kids were quite young as were the
two children of our friends. We put the four in a
large bathtub and they played with the usual rubber
duckies and splashed about. I took a bunch of photos.
Later, I was told by an officious American woman
employed at a child welfare agency in New York that I
could be charged with some kind of sexual offense. I told
the woman to charge me and she then backed down.
Once again, I did not like the practice of
intruding into home life by a court being used as
a ploy to degrade Truong-Polgar.
Yours, Larry Parr

From a wise old cowboy, Harry Payne on the USCF Issues Forum. The last
two paragraphs say it all:
"I am always amazed by, Paul's claims of greatness in promoting spice.
It does not show in the finances claimed in the tax information, unless
somehow they are not getting claimed, or shown. Spice's biggest output
seems to be in using the name of Texas Tech. And their jobs there, Susan
is to be a Chess Coach, an Paul PR for Spice (Not Texas Tech.). To this
point I have not heard of any great improvement in T.T.'s Chess team. I
have heard of one major sponsor who stated he was not putting any money
in spice, because of the actions and responses of Susan and Paul to his
inquiries.
I do remember Paul's claims, during the campaign, of some "Million
Dollar Deals" But have heard nothing since.
I have also heard about Paul's great expertise in the Chess promotion
field, but have failed to see much of that. I remember Paul's claims of
some great promotional plans he had for the USCF,(That would be
implemented when he was elected) But I have not seen any of those, or
even heard about a proposal. I have ask several in the USCF, and they
have not heard or seen anything. At some time it would seem to be time
to stop talking and start showing. If one walks around saying I am a man
long enough, sooner or later someone is bound to say "Prove it"
All I have seen since the election is what I saw before the election
from Susan and Paul "Nothing" Now I hear the same things I heard before
the election. How the dirty politicians are stopping them from
accomplishing anything, how bad the USCF is, what awful members (the
ones paying the bills) are.
About the many terrible threats and abuse Susan's children are suffering
from those majority of the EB, and their political friends, How those
dirty politicians are framing Paul, and will not allow him to defend
himself. How Paul has the answer to the financial problems the USCF is
facing, and how quickly Paul could fix that problem.
I am amazed how a man with such great PR skills, and money making
abilities, is working for his wife, who is a chess coach, at Texas Tech.
I think all the problems would be solved if Paul went out into the job
market, went to work, made some of those "Million Dollar Deals" he is
always referring to, and give a little to Spice, and the USCF. I mean he
has loads of those deals going all the time, He says. IMO"
