"If a man makes you a great many compliments, always suspect him of some bad
design, and never believe him your friend till he tells you of some of your
faults."
--Fanny Burney (Camilla)
In my view, a true friend is a friend who's not afraid to tell another friend
that he or she may be too drunk to be able to drive home safely, even when
that friend could be expected to respond with denial, anger, and even abuse.
I believe that the United States's President, George W. Bush, has become
dangerously drunk with power and unchecked ambition. He is the supreme leader
of the world's only superpower; he might even aspire to become the universally
acknowledged leader of the whole world. But, in my view, he should not be
allowed to drive the United States into a potentially deadly collision with
most of the rest of the world. Is it not in the best interests of the
American people to see as few Americans and non-Americans as possible killed
in unwarranted conflicts?
