I have had interesting, pleasant and valuable
email discussions with people whose posts on that
group are not worth reading. So it's something about
the group, not the participants.

Please excuse my butting in, but I feel compelled to echo your every
sentiment expressed here. My own experience apparently mirrors yours
*exactly* and is the reason why normally I steer clear of RGCP.
