OT: Just Wondering
..
"But even so, I find it interesting that many who seem to dismiss
Christianity with ease really don't seem to know a lot about it."
Recently, the Baloney man, Mark Houlsby, has been insisting that all
Christians must for some reason believe that faith, and faith alone, is the
foundation of their religion.
He claims that John 3:16 is the keystone: "...that whosoever believeth in
Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life."
See? It says so right there, in the Good Book. Faith, brother! That's all
it takes.
There is just one small problem with this: there are other passages in that
same tome which take a different tack. For example, the book of Matthew,
Chapter 3, quite strongly sends the message that evildoers will be cut down
like trees, and "cast into the fire." The wheat shall be separated from the
chaff -- the latter to be burnt up. The message is crystal-clear: bring forth
good fruits, or suffer the consequences! No mention of "faith" here, but the
weasels will find some way, like saying that faith LEADS TO good works, or the
reverse: that good works are a sign of FAITH. But this doesn't wash.
"They think the Koran is a Bible, and people that knows better knows enough
to not let on."
Them what thinks they knows, is often more igner't than them what knows
nothin' atall. I bet mosta 'em Christians haven't the foggiest notion just
what's in a Koran, nohow. Most of 'em prob'ly never even heard o' the code o'
Hammer-abi, neither! Ner Cunfucious. Hmph!
