i was fidlling with chessbase 8, and was wondering how to create these
great multimedia annotations, with red squares pointing at an attacked
square, two arrows indicating a skewer, etc etc. I've seen it in other
ppl's chessbase files. Is this done outside chessbase? Because I can't
find it in chessbase itself.


Consult the help files or read the manual.
Hit F1 and look for "graphic commentary".

Squares and arrows are no multimedia annotations.
Multimedia annotations are sound, video and pictures.
