Default Bill Goichberg for Executive Director of the United States Chess Federation

Bill Goichberg for Executive Director of the United States Chess
Federation

Let's face it. Bill Goichberg is already the Acting Executive Director
of the United States Chess Federation. He has been so and has served
without pay since Grant Perks was fired.

I think that Bill Goichberg is and ought to be made permanent as
Executive Director.

There will be a lot of objections to this on Conflict of Interest
Grounds. This is a bogus grounds. There is no conflict of interest.
Bill Goichberg owns and operates the biggest chess tournament
organizing company in America, the Continental Chess Association. It
is in the best interests of the Continental Chess Association for the
USCF to prosper. Therefore, there is no conflict of interest.

Furthermore, there is no choice. Records have been set in recent years
as to the Worst Executive Director (a title currently held by George
DeFeis) and the Shortest Executive Director (a title currently held by
Mike Nolan). I personally thought that Frank Niro was doing a
wonderful job, but I have been proven wrong. His heart may have been
in the right place, but Frank made some very serious mistakes which
have hurt the organization.

I believe that Bill Goichberg will offer to do the job for a low
salary, certainly less than the 6-figure salary we paid to DeFeis. I
believe that the Executive Board will have really no choice but to
accept Bill's offer, possibly as early as this weekend at the meetings
in Boca Raton, Florida.
