I saw that movie. It was no better or worse than nearly any other
porno movie.
I thought the young woman, Zuckerman's girlfriend, was very good
looking and also very nice. I wish I had asked her for her phone
number. Zuckerman used to come to the Rapids at the Manhattan Chess
Club when it was in the Henry Hudson Hotel. He used to bring her with
him, for a cheap date, I suppose. He'd win the rapids every week and
go home with her. One time, by accident, I won the rapids instead,
and I asked her to go home with me. I said I thought she was the
first prize. Just a joke, from a long time ago. Once when we were
all going up in the elevator and I reached to push the button for the
second floor she brushed her hand over mine, flirting. Heartbreaking
to think of it now. I am a sucker for sentimentality and nostalgia.
The way I heard about the porno movie was that, just to say something
outrageous, I asked them if I could watch them have sex. The young
woman said no, but I could go and see their porno movie on Eighth
Avenue. The following week I said I'd thought she had been turned on
because her nipples were erect. She laughed and said it just had been
cold there.
That's how it was in the sixties. And how I miss that time.
Feel free to use this, as I don't really see any reason why I should
give a ****.
