There are two chess shops on Thompson btwn Bleecker and 3rd, Fred
Wilson's site is http://www.fredwilsonchess.com/. Call him first to
make sure he isn't giving lessons when you want to browse his books.
He's on the second (?) floor in an big building, so it's not at all
obvious from the street.
Also in the area is the Strand, at 12th and Broadway, which usually
has a hundred or so used/remaindered/overstocked chess books at a
significant discount. Lots of Dover books, specifically, and others.
