Will Bauer replace Hanke as VP of Finance?
Tim Hanke is the current VP of Finance. He has no qualifications for
the job. He got the position by being the co-leader of a coup to throw
out John McCrary as USCF President.
A coup? Did the board not elect him, after he fairly won an election by
the members (gee, who was that again that he beat out for the position?)?
Hanke has strongly implied that he will resist any efforts to
"impeach" him as Hanke puts it before his two year term is up. It
seems likely that Hanke will resign from the board if he is replaced
as VP of Finance.
Any your source of such information is...what? Postings here on USENET?
While USENET might be nice for posting information (oh, how's Leko
doing these days?), I would hardly try to determine one's position based
on USENET "conversation" - unless Tim makes a statement as to his
position, I am not sure you come to the "strong implication" of what he
will do.
Nevertheless, I hope that Hanke will voluntarily step aside and allow
Bauer to become VP of Finance. For many years the USCF has had
hokus-pokus accounting. Nobody knew what the numbers really
represented. Hanke is not to blame for this. This has been the
situation for a long time, since at least the early 1990s and probably
for a lot longer than that.
You can perhaps make a case that Bauer is more qualified than Hanke, but
I don't know that a case has been made that Hanke is unqualified.
Beatriz Marinello has spoken well of him, and given the situation the
USCF was in when she and Tim came about, it would seem he has done a
reasonable job. Having Bauer will likely enhance the capabilities of
the board, but it is not clear that Bauer needs to replace Hanke to do that.
