Default I have shortchanged Judy and Joan

I posted here that Judy and Joan, the identical twins who work for the
USCF, have worked there for 18 years.

It seems that I was a bit off. They have actually worked there for 36
years.

The USCF moved from New York City to Newburgh in 1967. It appears that
Judy and Joan were among the first hires after the USCF arrived in
Newburgh.

At one of the meetings, I believe that it was Cherry Hill 2002, I
asked that a round of applause be given for Judy, Joan and the other
regular staff members because it is obvious that they are the ones who
are actually keeping this organization togather. During the really bad
years, especially the nearly two years with George DeFeis at the helm,
when the Executive Director was refusing to do anything that resembled
work, nevertheless, in spite of the vacancy at the top, the basic work
of the federation got done, memberships were processed, tournament
reports got processed, ratings came out, books and equipment were
shipped. Everything kept moving and for this we owe the deepest thanks
to Judy, Joan, Traci and the other regular staff members (I do not
even know the names of most of them) who kept doing the work every day
while the hot-shots at the top just argued about it and did no actual
work at all.

Of course, 2 * 18 = 36.

(I am joking. Sam writes that each of
the sisters have worked for 36 years
-- impressive and... spooky).

Wlod

Sloan makes a sensible and honest post for once. I agree completely.

My hat is off to Judy and Joan.

Matt

Maybe they are lesbians too?

That's okay Sam. We can forgive you. You've always been completely accurate
before. Everybody is entitled to one mistake.

[snip]

Joan once printed a story about being referred to USCF by an agency,
and thinking that the emplyer was supposed to be the "Chest" Federation
-- some kind of medical outfit. I think it would be great if Judy was
hired at Joan's referral, thus saving either the sisters or USCF a
second agency fee.

Thats a great story! How many of you have wanted to pound your chest
and give a Tarzan yell after someone asks you about playing a game of"
chest"?

That was 36 years ago you stupid *******. What kind of anal fudge-packer
thinks of something like that?? The USCF lost a million dollars a couple of
years ago, where were you when they needed the Dollar Detective?

I have no idea what you are getting at, or why. The topic of this
thread is "I have shortchanged Judy and Joan." I don't kmow them
personally but (considering your snide remark) I am sure they must be
more interesting persons than you are.

As for the matter being thirty-six years old -- "Forsan et haec olim
meminisse iuvabit."
