Beatriz Marinello defects to the Other Side
September 30, 1996 - a date which will live in infamy - Steve Doyle, the USA Delegate who had been sent by the USCF to Yerevan, Armenia to be a member of the Jaime Sunye Neto reform slate in the campaign for election for FIDE President, defected to the other side and joined the Kirsan Ilyumzhinov slate. In exchange for selling out his country, Steve Doyle received a Rolex watch and a position of FIDE Vice-President, which meant that for the next ten years up until today, Doyle has had all his expenses paid to attend FIDE meetings wherever they are held in the world. Ever since, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has won re-election in 1998 and 2002 by the simple expedient by bribing his opponents with promises of positions in the new FIDE. For example, his opponent in 2002, Ignatius Leong of Singapore, quit the race, then rejoined the race and then quit the race again to become FIDE General Secretary, a position he holds today. Since Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has a long history of winning elections by buying off the opposition and inviting them to join his administration, thereby discarding others who had been loyal to him up until then, I have been asking for the past year whether this might happen again and whether our present delegation might be bribable. I discussed this issue with Bill Kelleher, who is at present the USA delegate to FIDE, during the USCF Executive Board meetings in Parsippany, New Jersey in February, and he assured me that no member of the USA Delegation would defect to Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. But Bill was wrong. Apparently, nobody thought that Beatriz Marinello would defect to the other side, but she has. Her motivation is obvious. Beatriz Marinello wants to be elected as FIDE General Secretary for the Americas. Most of the countries of Central and South America are either supporting Kirsan Ilyumzhinov or are neutral. In addition, the FIDE Continental Officers are elected by the FIDE General Assembly, NOT by the countries involved. Therefore, if Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is elected FIDE president, he will get to choose who the continental officials will be and Beatriz Marinello obviously believes that she will get that position if she supports Kirsan for reelection. I think that Ignatu Leong of Singapore does not want black people in
the world chess championhip. He is an arrogant snob who is abou to get taught a lesson. Marcus Roberts |

"Andrew Zito" This lesbo used John McArthur for her green card then left
him broken hearted. How low can she go? What can you expect from a rug-muncher? |

"The General Secretary position was offer to me,
regardless of my personal opinion on the upcoming election presidential election." (Beatriz Marinello) Beatriz spills the beans in her own words. She is prepared to sell out the USCF in return for a promise from the Ilyumzhinov camp to become General Secretary of FIDE. It is shameful for this woman to represent the United States in any capacity with our dues money. She's just another freeloader on the gravy train. |

Beatriz Marinello wants to be elected as FIDE General
Secretary for the Americas. Must be for those great medical benefits. TMB |

Beatriz is a strong woman who's willing to stand up against Goichberg,
Schultz, Tanner and Channing. She's also willing to stand up against Bessel Kok and supports Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. She's entitled to change her mind and negotiate the best deal. It's a free country. She should be praised for the decision to support FIDE and she should be given the FIDE General Secretary position. |

My beef with Marinello is that she accepted a nomination
under false pretences when she knew she was not going to live up to the standards that prompted the nomination. She should have stated up front that she was neutral" in egards to the upcoming election. She did not. I see that as deceitful. If she ever runs for anything USCF related again she can forget my and plenty other members' votes. She is done. I used to be a strong supporter of hers. No more. Steve in Tennessee This posting is especially noteworthy and significant because Steve in Tennessee has in fact been the strongest supporter over the longest period of time of Beatriz Marinello. He supported her through the Natrol Deal and all the other bad deals she made but apparently this time she went too far. Sam Sloan |

"samsloan" He supported her through the Natrol Deal and all the other bad
deals she made but apparently this time she went too far. Apparently she bit off more than she could chew. And that's saying alot, since Beatriz can chew the rug with the best of them (dykes). |
