Why you never heard of Lazaro Bruzon by
Honest Aryan
My fellow racists (Whites only),
You never heard of Lazaro Bruzon
because he's from Cuba but, how shall
we say, 'never plays black'.
Your move.

Wikipedia page about George Koltanowski by
Sam Sloan
I have created a Wikipedia page about George Koltanowski.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Koltanowski
A curious fact I have just discovered is that he is not listed in the
Social Security Death Index.
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi
The closest match is a George Colton who died in San Francisco with
exactly the same dates of birth and death.

My Bill Brock Wikipedia page by
Sam Sloan
Lately, in case you have not noticed, Bill Brock has been posting
boigraphies of me on Wikipedia. At first, he asked that my biography
be deleted, claiming that I had written the biography myself. This was
demonstrated not to be true. My Wikipedia biography was written by two
persons who have never met me and who know of me for reasons unrelated
to chess and who do not know each other either. I...

Requests to the White Collection in Cleveland by
Sam Sloan
There are some old chess publications I would like to obtain. I always
kept everything about chess, but in 1994 my brother had everything in
my mother's house in Lynchburg, Virginia thrown in a garbage. Thus, I
lost most of my old chess magazines and game scores. I did salvage a
few items, such as the score of my game against Claude Bloodgood which
I have just posted.
If anybody goes to the...

Wikipedia controversy about John W. Collins by
Sam Sloan
Yesterday, I happened to notice that the Wikipedia biography of John
W. Collins and twice been deleted. This is unusual. It had been my
understanding that once a Wikipedia biography is posted, it stays up
forever, unless the person is entirely non-noteworthy.
So, I found a new skimpy biography that had been posted after previous
deletes. I expanded it by finding his birth date which had not...

Misleading Book Titles. by
Skeptic
I was browsing chess books in a store the other day, and noted two extremely
misleading chess titles. By "misleading" I do not mean "lousy book", a book
that fails to do what it intends to--I mean a book where there is no
connection between the book and the title.
The first was Eric Schiller's "Complete Defense to King Pawn Opening", by
Eric Schiller, described on the cover as "the world's...

Capablanca by
Norman Kaye
Does anyone know anything about a visit by Capablanca to Stoke on Trent
(Hanley), Staffordshire, UK around the 1920's to play a simultaneous match
with the local clubs. I believe the venue was the Albion Hotel in Lichfield
Street.

Review of Books by Taylor Kingston by
Sam Sloan
Since Taylor Kingston has been busy spending his time attacking books
by other authors, especially Eric Schiller, Larry Evans and Raymond
Keene, I decided to look and see if Taylor Kingston has written any
books, and what the reviewers said about them.
Here is what I found. Taylor Kingston has written two books. ALL of
the reviews have been unfavorable.
Here is what one reviewer wrote:

Wikipedia Controversy about Eric Schiller by
Sam Sloan
I just happened to notice some extremely negative remarks on Wikipedia
about Eric Schiller posted by somebody who obviously does not like
him. Naturally, I suspected Taylor Kingston aka Edward Winter, who is
known to attack Schiller among others.
So, I revised the Eric Schiller page, taking out all the negative
stuff. Within minutes, this same person but them all back in. Then,
checking the...

Can you get Chessmaster 9000 TCP/IP to work? by
Coffee Lover Girl
Hey, has anyone managed to get CM9000's TCP/IP feature to work, so
they can play someone else online directly?
I could use some help with it, if you've actually gotten it to
work.
