Hello Chesslovers,
Now ChessBase supports FRC960. This "new" feature is already supported by Arena (also before Fritz 11). This is not the first time ChessBase picks a feature firstly supported by Arena and promots like their own achievement, an other one beeing for instance the UCI support. Reading this: "To be fair, Fischer wasn't the first to voice the concern that memorization was ruining the game; J.R. Capablanca was saying the same thing back in the 1920's. Capa, like Fischer, had the idea that the game should be changed and he advocated the addition of a new major piece, the Chancellor, which would appear between a Bishop and either the King or Queen (I forget which one, sorry). The game would consequently be played on a 9x9 board" on the ChessBase page: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4762 you will seee they accept themselves they "do not know". Standard Capablanca Chess is played on a 10x8 board. A variant of Capablanca Chess is played on a 10x10 board. Are they as competent in real chess as in this issue ?If you have called their support in the past you will already know the answer. They are more busy kicking people from their server than doing research, fixing bugs or support customers. This tells us a lot of how certain isuues are addressed by them.
