What *exactly* is a chess bitch? Is that like a female chess player
that steals another girl's boyfriend? Or is a female chess player who

I sent her an e-mail, and she told me that she titled the book to
convey material that is controversial. There is probably going to be a
discussion about that title in FIDE, but I don't that she fully
understood what she did: the title hurt her sales. I think that she
really cares about tthe material and she had very good intentions.
Perhas she cares TOO MUCH about the material!

It was a good book, just a poor choice of title.

Well, if the title is illegal in my home courty, yes. Profanity is an
arrestable offense on St Kitts and Nevis. How do you expect me to
promote chess when the title of the book is a crime to speak in public?

Offhand, I would have thought that it was possible
to promote chess without speaking the title of
a book by Jennifer Shahade. Is Marcus Roberts
really unable to think of a way to accomplish this?

Is using the term for the female of the species canis familiaris, in any

There are plenty of other books about chess. Ms Shahade has not
increased your ability to promote chess but nor has she decreased it.
I see no reason why FIDE should take any action just because she has
not increased your ability to promote chess. After all, she didn't
increase your ability to promote chess last time she ate a chocolate
bar. Should FIDE therefore take action to prevent Ms Shahade from
eating chocolate?

I am conisdering buying the book actually, because I find the subject
or psychology of sexism in chess rather interesting.
