Let me respond to Sam Sloan. First things first. (1) I WAS NOT BANNED FOR PLAYING THE ZILBERMINTS GAMBIT. It was because of some perceived BS on the part of a few individuals. I was banned from the Friday Rapids, without so much as a hearing to defend myself. By the way, Friday Rapids is dwindling. Leif Pressman said they only had 8 players recently. Since Jerry Graham, Tamarkin and I are not there, Friday Rapids will not get many players... until we return. (2) I intend to play my chess opening, the Zilbermints Gambit, against anyone I so choose. You, Mr. Sam Sloan, will not tell me what openings to play. (3) Third, you better tell me WHICH Zilbermints Gambit you are talking about. Is is 1 d4 e5 2 de5 Nc6 3 Nf3 Nge7 ? Or is it 1 g4 d5 2 e4 de4 3 Nc3! (the Zilbermints Gambit in the Grob) ? Or is it 1 d4 d5 2 e4 de4 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 f3 ef3 5 Nxf3 e6 6 Bg5 Be7 7 Bd3 Nc6 8 00 Nxd4 9 Kh1! (the Zilbermints Gambit in the Euwe Defense to the BDG) ? (4) Stop talking bull****, Sam. The crap you are talking about does not hold any water. Let's see you play a match against me instead. I apologize to Mr. Zilbermints for mis-stating the reasons he was banned. While the decision to ban Zilbermints was harsh it may have been without any malicious intention. But there needs to be honesty before there can be credibility. Zilbermints was banned because he plays the Zilbermints Gambit. If he would only promise to stop playing that Gambit, they would let him stay, but on probation. Of course, if he then plays that gambit again, he will be out of the club for good. Actually, they do not care if he plays that Gambit, just as long as he does not play it against members of the club. Sam Sloan |
