Hi,
i am new to chess in general and to this newsgroup in particular. I have noticed that most conversation concerns this GetClub engine / site, which seems (according to some posts) to be in an experimental state but already charges money for usage. So, my question is, what is so special about it? if i want a human player i usually play on fics, if i want an adjustable computer opponent, i play fritz. And an advantage: both options are free. Whereas GetClub costs money. So, concerning GetClub: should i and if so, why should i bother? Greetings, Tobias |

So, my question is, what is so special about it? Its author is *very* persistent. The engine and the site are gut-wrenchingly awful; either the author has no grip on reality or he's just trying to drive traffic to his site. Or both. if i want a human player i usually play on fics, if i want an adjustable computer opponent, i play fritz. And an advantage: both options are free. Whereas GetClub costs money. Well, Fritz isn't free but it doesn't cost per-game. So, concerning GetClub: should i and if so, why should i bother? You shouldn't. Yes GetClub is a new Program So many people tried it when it was a very weak. But now, it challenges everone to its limits. If you are a good player you can earn Prizees every month. So you can get many more new games for free. Things that you will like at GetClub Chess. 1. Your games are Recorded So all games can be analyzed by experts with animation. 2. You get Ratings depending on number of games you win. Its very hard to come in top 10. 3. You can play unlimited games forever at GetClub. Only Higher Levels are limited. 4. Its free to Join and play as many games you want. Beginner Level is always free. 5. You can improve your game. And get 5 Levels to play with as per your Skills. 6. No downloads needed. Just play from your accont from any Computer Online. So, my question is, what is so special about it? See above. if i want a human player i usually play on fics, if i want an adjustable computer opponent, i play fritz. And an advantage: both options are free. WhereasGetClubcosts money. Only Higher Levels Cost money. You can play with a decent Beginner Level Unlimited times. And you get Prizes every month so getrting new games for free is not difficult. Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html So, concerningGetClub: should i and if so, why should i bother? You are already bothered. So thats good. Now join and play a few games then tell everyone how much you liked GetClub. Other players playing daily are praising GetClub a lot. It plays very strong moves., So it will be very difficult for you to win higher levels. Have a Match between Fritz and GetClub and let us know who is the winner. Have a good day and enjoy Chess at GetClub. Bye Sanny Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html |

You can get Rybka, an indisputably better program when compared to GetClub, for free. I agree. Why would anyone play GetClub? |
