Hello Everyone,
I would love to get some help with my screenplay. I am writing a scene where two lead characters are playing chess. I need some chess moves that correspond to the dialogue. Of course, the person or persons whose suggested moves make the film will get a thank you at the End Credit. The following is the tentative dialogue, which can be expanded. Chess moves will be inserted between the dialogue. SETUP: Ma is a crime boss and Lee is his right hand man. Right before this scene, Lee has just killed Ma's long time friend who has betrayed Ma. Now, it is time to kill Ma's rival. MA: Come in. (LEE enters an empty room except for a chess table and two opposing chairs. He takes a seat in front of MA.) LEE: It's done. MA: My patience has grown thin, and Lot has become an itch that must scratched. What do you need? LEE: I am not sure if anyone else has been tainted. LEE: I'll erase him alone. MA: Bring out your Queen and you risk everything. LEE: Yes sir. MA: You're just like your father. Bold. Unshakable. (Beat) Take him down. LEE: When? MA: Tonight. He doesn't enjoy another night of sleep while Jimmy rests. So, here is the idea. I need a classic opening that 1) shows that these guys know how to play chess 2) includes an early Queen move that shows Lee's aggressive nature 3) Ma's counter that shows his conservative nature. This scene is quite short and only needs a nice opening sequence of moves. I wanted to seek your help because I would have to make something up otherwise and hate to save avid chess players rip what I come up with. Thank you for even reading this long post and any help will be greatly appreciated. Tony Lee |

Well, the openings with the earliest queen moves, that are also decent
openings are the Center Game-1.e4 e5 2.d4 exd 3.Qxd4 Nc6 then 4.Qe3, or Qa4......Thats a possibility if you want white's queen out early. If its black's queen you want out early, theres the Center Counter Defense-1.e4 d5 2.exd Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 etc. Jon Neet |

I believe the Ryder Gambit is what you would like.
1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.f3!? exf3 5.Qxf3 Its a bold opening! Bringing out the queen on the 5th move, early, but no so much as in the center counter gambit. Here's a quicky knockout with it: 5...Qxd4 6.Be3 Qb4 7.0-0-0 Bg4 8.Nb5 Bxf3 9.Nxc7# mate. Leopold Lacrimosa "Helpless" wrote in message om... A while ago we discussed a line in the Vienna game which is ultra aggressive, involves a piece sacrifice (does Lee like to sacrifice own men in pursuit of his ambitions?), an early queen attack and is actually dangerous. It may suit you because the second move from White is looking defensive. 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. f4 Bc5 4. Nf3 exf4 5. d4 Nxd4 6. Nxd4 Qh4+ 7. Ke2 d5 8. h3 Nf6 This line is untested in tournament play. If you need more moves you will find some analysis he http://groups.google.de/groups?hl=de...com%26rnum%3D3 Classical is the early queen attack in the King's Gambit but you can't exactly say this opening is defensive in natu 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Bc4 Qh4+ 4. Kf1. The "Immortal Game" between Anderssen and Kieseritzky continued 4...b5 5. Bxb5 6. Nf3 Qh6 7. d3 Nh5 8. Nh4 Qg5. Anderssen (White) won after he sacrificed both of his rooks and the queen. A lot more strategic is an opening called The Vultu 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 Ne4 4. f3 Qa5+ for example 5. Nd2 Nd6 6. e4 g6 Another aggressive opening for Black is the Latvian: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Nxe5 Qf6 4. Nc4 fxe4 5. Nc3 Qg6 6. d3 or 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Bc4 fxe4 4. Nxe5 Qg5 (not sound) 5. d4 Qxg2 6. Qh5+ Others have mentioned the Scandinavian where the Black queen is in danger to be chased around after the initial attack: 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3. A line in the Scotch: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Qh4 This has been played by the former world champion Steinitz (among others), so it is not entirely bogus. His adversary, Chigorin, won the game but subsequentially used it on his own against other players, scoring 3 points out of 4. Regards Claus-Juergen |

As black gets a very good game if white doesn't react energetically. /M. |

It's a Queen's Gambit Accepted. Lee plays white. Ma takes the pawn. Lee
checks with his Q. Ma touches her Bishop with her fingers and makes masturbatory movements on it as she says what she says about the Q. Lee takes his move back and plays e3. Wilma, who understands that there are only 6 degrees of separation between herself and Shakespeare. "Helpless" wrote in message om... Hello Everyone, I would love to get some help with my screenplay. In article ,

Qh4 I think this is a great choice, because unlike the center-counter, it's a line where the queen raid is a rational, but aggressive choice. The only problem is that white's followups won't reveal his "conservative" nature-- except insomuch as the early queen check is the sort of thing that makes some weaker player panic, and the actor could reveal his nature by being methodical and rational about his responses-- e.g., let the actor convey the conservatism. Anything happening on the chessboard will be lost on the vast majority of the film's audience, anyway. |
