Default Is ChessWorld.net (www.letsplaychess.com) ok?

I've just been invited to ChessWorld.net (www.letsplaychess.com).
I'm playing one game as guest.
Seems ok, is it worth being a member?
Any members wish to comment.
TIA, Kym

I love it. I play there exclusively. I never have time for serious
OTB games, so I tried web-correspondence chess, and I'm hooked. I've
tried out a few other correspondence sites and ChessWorld.net is the
one I chose. Large base of players, generally polite and motivated
(members that is, I don't play guests any more as they tend to abandon
games), always lots of tournaments and team events going on all the
time, the site has practically no downtime, the guy who runs it
listens and adds features as users request them. The only
"disadvantage" is that it's so easy to get a lot of games going that
you can find yourself with too many games. I fully recommend it.

I have tried other sites, as itsyourturn, echess and many others and I have
to say ChessWorld.Net is by a great margin the best site to play email
chess. I'm member now and have many games going (perhaps too many). I
recommend it. Now we are even having an Olympic event!

Don't waste your time with that site. It is riddled with bugs and the owner
is a cyber dictator that will make lots of empty promises. Most of the
players don't finish their games.

A much better site is RedHotPawn! Better players, better interface, and
better webmasters.

That's not been my experience. A very well run site, consistent and
efficient.

Well then you are one of the lucky ones "Jim", or else you are just an alias
for one of the crooked webmasters. I have talked to at least half a dozen
people who were very dissatisfied with the treatment and service they
recieved from the site.

Funny comment from a guy using the alias of a notorious Holocaust denier.

Default Dr. Robert Faurisson appears to be Jason's new alias

I did too, John, but in RGCC. I reached the same conclusion.

Somebody should lock him up and throw away the key...

I like it. Though I've only been a free member for about 8 months or so.
A couple times I just about joined as a paying member but then they would
have a server outage that would last a few days or even a week or more. So
for now, I'm staying only as a free member.

Overall though, a very good site. Very, very convenient for playing a game
though I currently am playing most of my games at the IECC. The IECC can be
found at:

Good Luck,

The only major outage was caused when the webmaster had to change hosting
service when the previous host wanted to charge an exorbitant new rate.
Chessworld.net has one of the cheapest subscription rates around and the
webmaster wanted to keep it that way. I've tried out most of the turn-based
servers, but ChessWorld is the only one I subscribe to.
