French Mac Cutcheon by
Jean-Louis Ricard
I intend to study the Mac Cutcheon in depth.
Could you please suggest a few books on the French defence where it is
well
documented?

Martin Wilber
Is there a way I can get Fritz 8 to annotate games and create an
annotated pgn file without the $nn characters in it? Where nn is a
number, such as $11.
thanks
Marty

question about Mikhail Tal book by Chess Stars by
Ivan
Are the books in the 4 volume set analyzed with text or do they use
the informant style with just a bunch of variations and codes ?
I like how they did the super tournament series which uses detailed
text for analysis. is that how the books are set up ?

Sam Sloan Vs. Marinelli by
Ivan
This is another case of Sam Sloan being the underdog challenging the
corrupt USCF. I hope that Sam triumphs over evil.

Why are combinations so much fun? by
Ron
Even when they're simple and thematic.
Not a particularly hard position to solve. White to play and win. I
suppose the only real challenge here was finding it over the board in a
blitz game.

e4 of d4? by
Ivan
Which is better?
Is it better to play 1.e4 on the first move or 1.d4/1.c4 to lead to
closed positions on the first move?
Since Kramnik is now playing 1.e4, does that mean that it is better?
Why did he change?

Pia Cramling by
W T Harvey
Cramling got her Grandmaster title in 1992, after scoring her first
norm in 1989 (``I defeated my brother when I scored that norm too,''
she laughs). ``Becoming a Grandmaster was indeed my greatest dream,
but I feel I should have completed the title long before that.''
In 1983 she was ranked No. 1 among women in the world, and held that
position for two years. Her highest rating was 2545 in...

Chessbase Ebooks and Fritz 5.0 by
Sky Walker
hello guys,
I am planning to buy some chessbase ebooks. Will they work properly on
my Fritz 5.0? If they do not, will they work if i upgrade to Fritz 8.0/Deep
Fritz 8.0. I have chess master X, and do not want to upgrade my Fritz unless
its really necessary.
As far as i understand difference between Frtiz 8.0 and Deep Fritz 8.0
is the dual CPU support. So i can as well buy just Fritz 8.0 and...

A Strange Game I played by
Glenn C. Rhoads
In this game I came back after being a rook down. The
highlight is an unusual and difficult engame where I had
a rook, bishop, and 5 connected passed pawns (on files d
through h) vs. two rooks, a bishop, and an a-pawn. (material
difference of four pawns for a rook). My opponent's a-pawn
stood on a2 for several turns without being queen despite
the fact that it was not blocked. When he did...

find duplicate postions by
Kevin Houston
I am developing a chess opening tree for myself. For each unique
position I want to respond with one and only one unique move. Since
there is more than one way to reach a particular position I'd like to
be able to search my tree for duplicate positions and insure that I am
responding the same way each time. Does anyone know of a chess
database program that will allow me to create an opening...
