question about Mikhail Tal book by Chess Stars by Ivan
Are the books in the 4 volume set analyzed with text or do they use the informant style with just a bunch of variations and codes ? I like how they did the super tournament series which uses detailed text for analysis. is that how the books are set up ?

This is another case of Sam Sloan being the underdog challenging the corrupt USCF. I hope that Sam triumphs over evil.

Why are combinations so much fun? by Ron
Even when they're simple and thematic. Not a particularly hard position to solve. White to play and win. I suppose the only real challenge here was finding it over the board in a blitz game. 2rq3r/pb3pk1/1p1bpn1p/4N1p1/2PP3P/3Q2B1/P1B2PP1/R3R1K1 w - - Solution

e4 of d4? by Ivan
Which is better? Is it better to play 1.e4 on the first move or 1.d4/1.c4 to lead to closed positions on the first move? Since Kramnik is now playing 1.e4, does that mean that it is better? Why did he change?
