ATLANTIC CHESS NEWS by
Adventurous One
My question is:
Since Atlantic Chess News covered the 2004 Memorial Day Weekend
Tournament in Atlantic City (Summer Issue) there should have been
games. I have not seen yet games from that tournament. The winner was
Paul Howe in the Amateur Section.
So, does anyone have games from that event that he played? I'd be
interested in seeing how he took first place, and his games.
Thanks!

Chess software for mac os x by
Jostein
Is there anyone here that uses a mac os x? It does not seem to be any
decent software for the plattform! What is the closest thing I can get
to Fritz and Chessbase on Mac os x?

Sicilian phobia by
Pneumocranium
What is a good way to play against someone who likes the French, hates
the Sicilian loves to hold onto his black square bishop.!? I've tried to
take out his favored bishop but usually lose more than I should in material.
I'm fairly good. Been learning my openings but tend to hit a brain
freeze in the late opening to midgame.

Brilliant freewa Chessposition Trainer by
Mantraslider
You should definately give this program a try! It has a very good
training feature, not only for openings, but also for middle and
endgame positions. The program is very new, but is still in
development, and the author is very open to suggestions, so I guess we
can expect a LOT of improvements. But already, it is a hell of a lot
better than Bookup when it comes to training, so there is no use...

KID game (opening and endgame question) by
Miroslav Rakovic
Hello,
I need advice what to play after 12.0-0-0. I found 2 games in Mega
Base 2004 (black played Bd7 and Nxg5), but I don't like these moves.
What is your opinion on final position?
I am black and I had 2 minutes left and I accept draw offer.

Knight drawing against rook and pawn by
Martin Wilber
I read on the internet that Lasker once drew against Capablanca with
only a knight versus a rook and a pawn. If anyone has this game, please
post it. I am curious to see what position would lead to a draw in this
situation.

Fine-Reshevsky Knight vs Bishop Semmering 1937 by
Nomen Nescio
This game ended in a draw in which Fine had knight and g- and h-pawns
against Reshevsky's bishop. In BASIC CHESS ENDINGS (page 215 of the
original edition), Fine gives an analysis including a missed win before
the knight plus two pawns vs bishop position was reached. Averbakh seems
to agree that the game was drawn after that point.

The Cochrane Gambit by
Tim Eberly
Hi folks,
I was wondering one day what would happen if Black took on e4 right away in
the Cochrane gambit. I found that White has a number of winning lines. Some
lines were surprising. Black has to really watch himself. Here is some
analysis.
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Nxf7 This is the Cochrane Gambit 4...Kxf7 5.d4
Nxe4? I wanted to see if I could exploit this early capture. If I can come

Stoenwall from QGD by
levellerman
Hi, I have a question for the Stonewall's theory specialists.
I do not play it but I vaguely know that a usual way to get the
Stonewall
while avoiding the messy anti-Dutch gambits (1.d4-f5
2.e4,Nc3,h3,g4,Bg5 ..)
is via Slav ( Meran) or QGD :
1.d4-d5 2.c4-e(c)6 3.Nc3-c(e)6 4.Nf3-f5..
