My Game against Grandmaster Smirin by samsloan
I am on a roll. Here I drew an International Master in the Forth Round in an exciting game with pieces hanging all over the place. In the unlikely event that I could keep this up, I might get a norm for the International Master title. I played the entire game using only 15 minutes on my clock, not counting the 30 second time delaye.

Feedback On Tournament Game Featuring English Defense (Or Owen's Defense!?) by jim gyro
I just finished playing in a tournament here in Zimbabwe and I am in the middle of assessing my performance. The only trouble is chess resources here are limited so I lack the benefit of book and/or computer analysis. I would really appreciate this forum's help with evaluating a key game: 1.e4 b6 2.d4 Bb7 3.Nc3 e6 4.Nf3 Bb4 5.Bd3 Nf6 6.Qe2 d5 7.exd5 Qxd5 8.O- O Qh5 9. Nb5 Na6 10. Bf4 Nd5 11. Bg3...

Double Howler: Smyslov-Petrosian, Zurich 1953 by Taylor Kingston[_3_]
Playing over this game from the great 1953 Candidates Tournament I noticed an amazing double-blunder by these two all-time greats, both future World Champions. In this position: 8/p2PB1pk/1p5p/3Q4/2p3K1/2Pn1P2/6PP/4q3 b - - 0 46 Petrosian played 46...Qe5, and Smyslov, apparently mesmerized by its problem-like beauty, played 47.Qxd3+ cxd3 48.d8Q and the game was agreed drawn. Annotators...

Re QGD what is wrong with 3. c5? by Blkbull
My opinion on 3. c4-c5 is that: a) Violates the GENERAL PRINCIPLE of moving the same piece (or pawn) twice instead of rapid development of your pieces. b) One idea of the Queen's Gambit is for Black to play 2...d5xc4 (accepting the gambit) so that White can get a slightly longer lead in development and space via 3. e2-e4 giving White the classic center. In most lines White will evenually...
