Peter Billam
Greetings. If I were thinking of taking up the Scheveningen Sicilian
as Black and was looking for a book on the subject, what would be my
best choice(s) ?

Pawn Power - Benoni Formation by
mike
In his book Pawn Power in chess, Kmoch analyzes the game Sherwin -
Reshevsky, New York 1953, in the section on Benoni formations (although this
particular game is a KID).
After 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.f3 0-0 6.Be3 e5 7.d5
Kmoch writes: "7...c5 transposes unfavorably to a Benoni Major. See
Szabo - Ivkov."
Does Kmoch mean that all Benoni Majors are unfavorable for Black, or just

Any gambits against 1.d4? by
straphael
I have a friend who always starts with 1.d4, and plays a slow,
strategic game to win in the endgame. This takes a long time and it's
quite frustrating for me.
So here's my question. Do you have any offbeat gambits against 1.d4
that I could use to surprise my opponent? It doesn't have to be 100%
sound or anything, I just want to try something new and different.
Thanks
Toey

Why should I study endgames?? by
Zero
I was beaten by a master this weekend. He told that in order to
improve chess players should study endgames.
I don't understand why I should study endgames. If I can't get through
the middlegame or the opening or am I supposed to get to a endgame?
Also I bought a endgame studies book and I don't see the point in going
over these studies. None of these positions are ever going to happen
in any...

About "How to study Endings" by
Antonio Torrecillas
Hello,
Recently it has ben discussed here How to study endings.
I propose an ending to analyze:
It seems to me that white achieved an ending a little better but only a
mistake for black allowed the win (It was a 15min+3sec game)
Anyone interested propose what was the fatal mistake??

Is it a win (or a draw)? by
vj
Hi all Chess experts,
I love playing chess, but not an expert of rules. I need your comments
on one of the situations which arose in a game when I was playing with
my opponent, and I am not sure whether it is a win or a drawn game
(kindly excuse me if I am not using the correct technical words).
My oppenent was put in a situation where he was left only with the King
on the board. The King was...

Chess game is beating everyone except a few players by

The Chess game is playing very good. It has beated every player atleast
once except Taylor Kingston & Perrypawnpusher
The game is playing quite fast that it allows upto master level to be
played.
Play Chess at: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html
Now, no one criticizes that it is playing weak moves. So now I cant
improve the game further. But I see good players beating the Normal &

I beat my highest rated opponent so far, is the ending position awin? by
ben carr
My opponent was rated 2065, but he didnt play like it. I get two pawns
pretty much for free and I have a huge attack.
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 d5 3. cxd5 Nxd5 4. Nf3 e6 5. e4 nf6 6. Nc3 Bb4 7.Bd3 (
is this the best move?) ...c5
8.a3 Bxc3+ 9.bxc3 c4 (i think this was blacks first mistake, is it ok
for me to pawn grab here?)
10.Qa4+ Nc6 11.Qxc4 OO 12.Bc2 a6 (a wasted move by black) 13.Qd3 g6 14.
