NIC analysis of Anand-Topalov by
David J Bush
Anand-Topalov San Luis 2005 went like this: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6
3.Bb5 Nf6 4.d3 Bc5 5.c3 O-O 6.Bg5 h6 7.Bb4 g5 8.Bg3 d6
9.Nbd2 a6 10.Bxc6 bxc6 11.O-O Ba7 12.d4 g4 13.Bh4 gxf3
14.Qxf3 Kg7 15.Qg3+ Kh7
Here Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam writes "But here Anand discovered
that on the move he had planned, 16.Qd3, black has the strong
reply 16...Rg8! in order to meet 17.f4 with 17...Rg4. No

Chess for Children by
roger_varley@yahoo.com
Hi
My grand daughter is showing interest in playing chess with Granddad.
So far we've got to the stage of knowing how all the pieces move and
I'm wondering about the best way to proceed from here. Are there any
books for children that are capable of being understood by a 7 year
old? Any advice would be gratefully received.
Regards
Roger

Tarrasch defense question by
Ron
After 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c5 4.de ed 5.Nf3 Nc6 6.g3 Nf6 7.Bg2 Be7
8.0-0 0-0 9.dc Bc5 10.Bg5 d4 11.Bxf6 Qxf6
the main line is 12.Nd5 Qd8
but to me, 12. Ne4 looks much stronger, because it takes away black's
powerful dark-square bishop. eg 12. ... Qd6 13.Nxc5 Qxc5.
Removing a pair of minor pieces, especially black's unopposed
dark-squared bishop, seems strongly in line with white's strategic...

give me some links about it ?
Thanks,

Is it time to give up on the Lopez for White? by
Ray Gordon
Let's see:
This is supposedly White's "only" try for an advantage, yet he has to book
out for about 35 moves, after which he usually gets barely more than
equality, and he has to face such nastiness as the Marshall Attack along the
way.
With so many alternatives, could it be possible that the Scotch or the
Bishop's opening offer an advantage? The Scotch in particular looks a lot
like the...

Playing chess with Delta Airlines by
Manuel Möller
Yesterday I saw a presentation from Delta Airlines.
Each seat of their new planes has a PC display,
all displays are linked.
And as I was told there is a chess programm installed
which allows to play a game with another passenger on board.

Need Help by
Robert Perkis
Hi. I'm Robert Perkis, I usually hang out at rec.gambling.lottery, but I
thought I'd look around here just for fun.
It seems you have a rather straight laced crew here, you're not into all
that we are at r.g.l. I'm looking for some gay/bi or trans to join me for a
christmas party at my place at 4701 Lyons Rd. Coconut Creek, FL 33073. You
can call to make a (free) reservation at 954-968-7023, or...

Bird's Opening & Dutch by
bellatori
After a 25 year lay off I came back to chess through CC. I have just found
my first game which was, funnily enough Bird's Opening. I am not vain
enough to include it because, truth to say it was not very good. What
provoked this thread was a sudden realisation that no-one really plays it
earnestly but my favourite defence to QP opening at the moment is the
Leningrad Dutch which seems to be fairly...

ruy lopez exchange variation by
ironmarshal
I've just recently started playing the Exchange Variation and was wondering if somebody can explain to me the logic of 4...dxc6. Why not play 4...bxc6 setting yourself up for d5 later and fighting for the middle?

How do you analyze? by
jeanp.a
I propose you a small inquiry:
In slow game, when it is in turn to play,
how do you analyze the position before deciding you your move?
Do you begin to envisage all the possible moves of the opponent?
Then do you assess all your possible moves?
Do you envisage several variants? Until what depth?
In summary, what is the mental proccessus which you use?

I discovered chessgames.com last week. Since Monday, I cannot access the

problems? Does anyone know what's happening with that web site. I am
rather disappointed because I paid for their premium service :^(
