Let me be clear...INFINITE analysis, MULTIVARIATION analysis work fine.
But when I try using interactive analysis...I can't get control over my computer once this activates. Chess Assistant goes into interactive analysis but it won't let me do anything else. My mouse turns into an I bar and I can't get the program to stop. Not even by hitting the ESC key. If there is anything I should know about how to get interactive analysis to work correctly in Chess Assistant 7, please let me know. The only way I can get Chess Assistant to stop interactive analysis is to do the three finger salute CTRL ALT DEL keystroke and stop the Chess Assistant process in Windows XP. I was really looking foward to doing interactive analysis in Chess Assistant 7, but it appears broken. I've applied the 7.1 patch when I got my copy in the mail after I installed the program. I've been using Chess Assistant 7 successfully since I've first installed it into my XP system. But for some strange reason, interactive analysis in Chess Assistant 7 doesn't work properly. If it's because I haven't set the paramaters correctly please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Because when I try using interactive analysis, I simply am using the installed default setting. If there is a way to get interactive analysis in CA 7 to work as advertised please, let me know. Thanks in advance. |

You can try these two things:
1. Check to make sure that you are using an engine that supports interactive mode (i.e. Tiger or Shredder). 2. Try the latest update, which will probably be build 729 (available through online update within CA). 3. Try deleting your initialization files. instructions on doing this can be found at www.chessassistance.com in the Tech FAQ. It could be something else, but I would try the above suggestions first. I've updated my copy of CA to 729 build and interactive analysis STILL is broken. I think it's something to do with the motherboard...mine is an Intel D845WN desktop model. And I'm NOT going to delete my prefereces just to see if the interactive analysis works. I'll simply take the game into Chessbase Junior 8.0 and do the interactive analysis there. In that program, interactive analysis works but it's called infinite analysis in that proram. No matter. I sitll have infinite analysis and multivariation analysis. That works fine. I'm not at a computer with CA on it at the moment, but there is a sensitivity setting in preferences that decides how much attention keyboard/mouse I/O get with respect to engine -- you have that set correctly? |
