When I fire up (to use a Steve Lopez term) Shredder 7 under ChessBase my analysis looks like this: Analysis by Shredder 7: 1. (-0.30): 17...Nf4 18.Re1 Qg5 19.Qc3 Nh3+ 20.Kf1 c5 21.Rxe8+ 2. = (-0.20): 17...Qf6 18.Nc4 Qf4 19.Ne3 Qd6 20.Nc4 Qf4 21.Ne3 Qd6 22.Nc4 Qf4 23.Ne3 3. = (-0.20): 17...Qd6 18.Nc4 Qf4 19.Ne3 Qd6 20.Nc4 Qf4 21.Ne3 Qd6 22.Nc4 Qf4 4. = (-0.16): 17...Qe5 18.Re1 Qd4 19.Qc2 Nb4 20.Qc3 Rxe1+ 21.Rxe1 Qxc3 Nxa2 However, when I exit Shredder and start Fruit 2.1 this is what the analysis looks like: 5: Ferrero,S - DePalma,A, Hackettstown Summer Holland Prelims 3rr1k1/p1pbqppp/2p5/3n4/8/1P3B2/PN1P1PPP/R1Q2RK1 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Fruit 2.1: 17...Nc3 18.Qxc3 +- (3.19) Depth: 1/2 00:00:00 17...Nb4 ³ (-0.36) Depth: 1/2 00:00:00 17...Nf4 ³ (-0.60) Depth: 1/5 00:00:00 17...Qa3 µ (-0.73) Depth: 1/6 00:00:00 17...Qb4 18.Bxd5 cxd5 19.Qxc7 Qxd2 µ (-0.75) Depth: 1/7 00:00:00 17...Qd6 µ (-0.78) Depth: 1/7 00:00:00 17...Qd6 18.Nc4 ³ (-0.34) Depth: 2/7 00:00:00 17...Qd6 18.Nc4 Qf4 ³ (-0.33) Depth: 3/8 00:00:00 17...Qb4 18.Nd3 Qd4 ³ (-0.44) Depth: 3/10 00:00:00 17...Qg5 18.d4 Qh4 ³ (-0.53) Depth: 3/11 00:00:00 17...Qf6 18.Nd3 Bf5 ³ (-0.54) Depth: 3/11 00:00:00 17...Qf6 18.Nc4 Bf5 19.Re1 = (-0.22) Depth: 4/11 00:00:00 17...Qg5 18.Nc4 Bg4 19.d4 Qxc1 20.Raxc1 Bxf3 21.gxf3 ³ (-0.44) Depth: 4/12 00:00:00 17...Qg5 18.d4 Nf4 19.Nd3 Nh3+ 20.Kh1 Qg6 = (-0.21) Depth: 5/16 00:00:00 17...Qf6 18.Nc4 Nf4 19.Re1 Qd4 ³ (-0.39) Depth: 5/16 00:00:00 17...Qf6 18.Nc4 Nf4 19.Qc3 Qxc3 20.dxc3 Ne2+ 21.Bxe2 Rxe2 = (-0.20) Depth: 6/16 00:00:01 60kN 17...Nf4 18.g3 Qg5 19.Kh1 Ne2 20.Qc2 ³ (-0.45) Depth: 6/19 00:00:01 116kN 17...Nf4 18.g3 Nh3+ 19.Kh1 Ng5 20.Qc3 Ne4 21.Bxe4 Qxe4+ 22.f3 ³ (-0.37) Depth: 7/22 00:00:01 201kN 17...Nf4 18.g3 Nh3+ 19.Kh1 Ng5 20.Bxc6 Bxc6+ 21.Qxc6 Rxd2 22.Nc4 Re2 ³ (-0.39) Depth: 8/22 00:00:01 359kN 17...Nf4 18.Re1 Qg5 19.Re3 Re6 20.Nc4 Rh6 21.g3 Bf5 ³ (-0.31) Depth: 9/25 00:00:02 1332kN 17...Nf4 18.Re1 Qg5 19.Qc3 Be6 20.Qxc6 Re7 21.Kh1 Bd5 22.Bxd5 Rxd5 = (-0.21) Depth: 10/29 00:00:04 2856kN Problems: It's black to move but in this mode I see the *worst* move first. I cannot reduce the number of lines. If I try to scroll down, as soon as it calculates something in one of the first lines the view shifts again, so I can't see the reasonable moves. Finally, the variations are not numbered like they are when I use Shredder. Does anyone know why this is so? Thanks, Angelo |
