Default First computer-related question

When I fire up (to use a Steve Lopez term) Shredder 7 under ChessBase my
analysis looks like this:

Analysis by Shredder 7:

1. (-0.30): 17...Nf4 18.Re1 Qg5 19.Qc3 Nh3+ 20.Kf1 c5 21.Rxe8+
2. = (-0.20): 17...Qf6 18.Nc4 Qf4 19.Ne3 Qd6 20.Nc4 Qf4 21.Ne3 Qd6 22.Nc4
Qf4 23.Ne3
3. = (-0.20): 17...Qd6 18.Nc4 Qf4 19.Ne3 Qd6 20.Nc4 Qf4 21.Ne3 Qd6 22.Nc4
Qf4
4. = (-0.16): 17...Qe5 18.Re1 Qd4 19.Qc2 Nb4 20.Qc3 Rxe1+ 21.Rxe1 Qxc3 Nxa2

However, when I exit Shredder and start Fruit 2.1 this is what the analysis
looks like:

5: Ferrero,S - DePalma,A, Hackettstown Summer Holland Prelims

Problems: It's black to move but in this mode I see the *worst* move first.
I cannot reduce the number of lines. If I try to scroll down, as soon as it
calculates something in one of the first lines the view shifts again, so I
can't see the reasonable moves. Finally, the variations are not numbered
like they are when I use Shredder.

Does anyone know why this is so?

Thanks,

Angelo
