I'm running Chessmaster 8000. It performed fine until earlier this
week. Now all the time settings seem to default to as fast as possible !. Just set upo a game between Tal and Tinman with a half hour clock. Chessmaster just went crazy playing the moves at blitz pace ! When analysing games no matter what is put into the 'Time For Anaysis' dialogue box, again the program just rushes through at 1 second or less for each move analysis, not the requested 10 secs or other, Any siggestins appreciated |

Part of the copy protection used in Chessmaster is devoted to making sure The King engine is not used outside the Chessmaster program. What you are experiencing is what happens when the copy protection fails -- the engine only searches to depth 1 and makes all its moves "instantly". jm |

Thanks, jm
Yes I have tried to reboot the machine, but alas the moves are still being made "instantly". What remaining hair I have is being torn out, and this old man is becoming even grumpier ! totally perplexed, mc |

Which version are you running? You can find out by going to "Help -
About Chessmaster 8000". If you aren't using 1.0.4, then you should go to http://chessmaster8000.ubi.com/upgrade8000.html to get the latest. If that doesn't work, then I'm not too sure what else to suggest, except (in order): 1) Uninstall and reinstall 2) Contact Ubi Soft Tech Support 3) Pick up a copy of CM9000 or CM 10th Edition jm |

This problem has showed up from time to time in CM9k, too. Rebooting has
has always solved it for me -- so far. Wilma wrote in news:1143860453.064960.192060 @i40g2000cwc.googlegroups.com: Which version are you running?
