The July 2003 version of Rebel 12 will fit on a 1.44 if you take out the
manual. It is THE most powerful Dos program there is. I still have it and will send it to you if you wish. "Bob Newell" wrote in message ... Seriously - could anyone recommend what they feel is the best small chess playing program that runs under good old MS-DOS? By "small" I mean that the program and all necessary files can be contained in a zip archive of roughly 1 MB. Why? I want to build a bootable floppy that is for chess and chess alone. Something that can be carried around and used anywhere. (I've done a number of these for various applications.) Any suggestions much appreciated. |

Chuck says... I want to build a bootable floppy that is for chess and chess alone. Something that can be carried around and used anywhere. (I've done a number of these for various applications.) You *could* build a bootable Linux floppy that is for chess and chess alone... |

My first good attempt succeeded in getting both Fritz 3 and Sargon V on a
bootable DOS floppy. I'm fine-tuning it but it works amazingly well and provides a lot of chess playing power in a very small package. I'm looking at other bootable combinations as well. Again many thanks to the respondents, both public and private. |
