Default Newbie Chessmaster 9000 - skill levels

I have just bought the above and , as I haven't played chess for
decades , I would like to know how to adjust the difficulty levels of
this programme so that I might win the odd game when playing against
it.

I have read the manual or help file but it still seems to play away
beyond my skills - perhaps I'm missing something or perhaps it is just
impossible to get as low in ability as I am !!

No need to be tactful as I'm far to thick to be insulted !

Hi BN,

Select a personality other than Chessmaster to play against. There are
a range of personalities that you can choose from, each with different
ratings, strengths, and weaknesses.

When you go into the Game Room, select the Game menu and then New Game.
You can then select your colour and click on the computer icon for the
player at the top of the screen. Then you click on the Select button to
choose a different personality to play against.

Alternatively, when you click on the Game menu, you can choose from one
of the entries under the QuickStart! menu item.

Thanks Bevan for the prompt reply.

I'll try out your suggestions.
