Default New Shredder or Fritz?

I have Fritz 7 and enjoy its features. I want to upgrade to Fritz 8 or
Shredder is there any real difference? I have a about an expert rating.

Thanx

The software of course is identical but the engines I'm sure have
different playing styles. One would have to play a lot of games
against both to detect the style. Shredder is perhaps slightly
stronger engine based on strength...

Why?
If you just want a chess playing opponent or trainer, Fritz 7 is fine.
Fritz 8 and Shredder 8 don't offer much new in those departments...except
some new bugs.
If you want it for infinite analysis, don't get Shredder 8 which is
incredibly buggy for that purpose. Get Fritz 8 or Junior 8, or better yet -
Deep Fritz 8 if you can afford it.
If you just want to find the best move in a position, ignoring the analysis,
Shredder 8 is the top choice.

Junior 8 would also be a good choice.

I have read that it might be an alternative at long games, but as far as I
know it's weak at anything faster.
