Of course, we all know that GMs always go around playing against "guests" on ICC..... Even more shocking is that never in his career before he quit did Fischer ever try these theories. IIRC, I remember Fischer, when he was playing publically, making statements to the effect that a 'Kings Gambit' style of play would/could/should be the most effective but because of the way most GMs of the time played, the possibilities would never be explored fully and, therefore, would never gain in popularity. Case in point: Still not 'popular', AND, obviously, quite effective. I have always thought that the King can be a very formidable OFFENSIVE piece while most schools of thought relegate the King to being totally defensive and protected, and nothing more. Also, after an extensive study of FisherRandomChess I have (personally) concluded that a better variation of it would be 'roll-your-own', ie; White places the King, Black mirrors placement and then places the Queen with White mirroring followed by White placing a Rook, etc, etc... Pawns, of course start at the normal place. The rules would be exactly the same as FRC, ie; the King starting between the rooks and the Bishops on opposing colors. As for playing chess myself, I refuse to play using a clock. All the clock does is force error to occur. Being a human player, I make errors just fine without any help, thankyouverymuch. I need no clock to help me. ;^) So, Mr Fischer, Let's play FRC, roll-your-own, no clock. |
