The exact number doesn't matter. No one can "prove" how many Armenians
died in the Turkish genocide, how many blacks have been killed in
Sudan by their own arab government, or for that matter, how many
soldiers (let alone civilians), died in any major war.

My uncle was a driver for an officer sent to investigate one of the
concentration / death camps the u.s. army found in WWII. (He was a
mechanic, but he'd goofed off, and got this assignment as extra duty).

Anyway, they went up there to Buchenwald, and it was clearly used to
kill thousands of inmates: mostly jews, but catholics, gays, gypsies,
etc., also. Over 40,000 people were killed there. Unbelievable sight
and smell.

You can't say the holocaust didn't happen, whatever number you put on
it. One thing is clear - it was a very large number.

I'm amazed that FIDE did not immediately choose another site for their
contest.
