Ok I'm stupid. I've been playing against Fritz using the rated games
feature. I got a little too excited and started doubling the stake until it got really high. Now I'd like to reset it. I've see stuff on previous version about a rating32.dat file and some ..ini files, but none of them exist on my system. Anyone know how to reset Fritz 8? Thanks, Tom |

You might try clicking on TOOLS then click on FACTORY SETTINGS!
If that doesn't work -- uninstall Fritz, then delete the Chessbase folder found in the Mydocuments folder. Tom Cat wrote: Ok I'm stupid. I've been playing against Fritz using the rated games feature. I'm not sure why or what your "other" CD is for, that you keep in your CD drive, but this may be
the problem. After I reset to Factory Settings and restarted the FRITZ program it asked me to insert the Install CD, which FRITZ verified. Following this everything works as before, that is, I don't have to insert the cd each time I run FRITZ. Perhaps keeping a non-install FRITZ CD in your cd drive all the time causes the program to try to read the FRITZ code from this CD, which of course is not there, and this makes it ask you to insert it. Try starting FRITZ without any CD in your cd drive. Bob Tom Cat wrote: Bob Fairbank wrote in message ... You might try clicking on TOOLS then click on FACTORY SETTINGS! DON'T DO THIS! While it did reset everything, it now asks for the CD on startup every time. Does anyone know how to make it stop doing this? Every time I want to play chess I have to get up, find the CD, take out whatever CD is in my CD drive, pop the Fritz CD into the CD Drive, let it "verify" that it is a real CD, take the CD out, put it away, put my other CD back into the drive, then I can play chess. There has got to be an easier way! Tom Cat wrote: Ok I'm stupid. I've been playing against Fritz using the rated games feature.
