What Pascal Georges did was to create a fork (new program based
upon the code of the original Scid -- a normal practice in the
world of open-source software.) He also used code from ChessDB

Alas, Pascal Georges then proceeded to pretend that his fork
of Scid is the real Scid. The "Scid" name belongs to Shane

Shane Hudson never gave Pascal Georges permission to use the
name SCid his forked project. Pascal Georges stole the name,
taking advantage of Shane Hudson illness. This is why the
sourceforge admims wouldn't allow Pascal Georges to host his
project on sourceforge.net.
