Get 1 year Chess Subscription (~ 600 Games) $50.00

So for a few dollars less than the cost of Fritz 11 (which is
currently $58 including shipping from Cajun Chess, as one example),
you can play chess at GitClub for a year. Of course, if you buy Fritz
11, a one year subscription to PlayChess.com is also included.

So which option should a person choose? Fritz 11 plus a year of play
at playchess for $58, or a year of play at GitClub for $50?

Sanny ---- you need to understand your value proposition relative to
competing value propositions.

Just a word of warning: Fritz 11 is not going
to be an easy mark; in order to win, you may
find yourself ordering the multi-processor
version of Deep Rybka, and giving yourself
extra time. But you can just play other
humans at playchess... . ;D

I told Sanny long ago that he should use
the Sam Sloan model, which is to place
paid advertisements on his site and then
get people there by letting them play
psuedo-chess for free. Some Web sites
will do an "exchange": you place a link to
their site on yours, and they will place a
link to your site on theirs.

Another idea is to have pop-up ads
appear, say, every time you put the
GetClub computer in check: an Oreo
cookie appears in the window, saying
"buy more Oreo cookies!". I know it
won't work, but it might train players to
avoid attacking the computer's King... .

Someone showed me other sites are taking $50/ year Subscription fees.
Do you think that below rates are still high?

Get 1 month Chess Subscription (~ 40 Games) $5.00
Get 2 months Chess Subscription (~ 100 Games) $10.00
Get 4 months Chess Subscription (~ 225 Games) $20.00
Get 1 year Chess Subscription (~ 600 Games) $50.00

What should be the rates as per your thinking that will attract a lot
of people. Give me examples of other sites and how much they are
asking for 1 month/ 2month/ 4 month / 1 year Subscriptions.

A big problem is that popup blocker stops the Advertisements on the
site.

But you do also get a bunch of weaker engines thrown in for free with
the main GUI. I still think Shredder is better value because it includes
a set of fast tablebases up to 5 pieces (and plays a more exciting
game). Or has Fritz11 caught up on this feature now?

And there are a bunch more free weaker engines available on the CB
website and elsewhere for variety.

Most folk would be better off with an even cheaper copy of one of the
main CB engines at around the 8/9 revision mark. The newest engines are
now so strong that they cannot be tuned down to club player level
realistically!

It is a combination of rate and value. ICC costs more --- $60.00 per
year --- but with thousands of players including dozens of computer
opponents, lectures, relays, tournaments, etc., many people obviously
feel this is a good value for the money. Playchess is very busy also
and costs (IIRC) around $30 per year. Both of these sites offer far
more than GitClub offers at present.

Ask yourself WHY people would want to pay for GitClub when other sites
offer much more for comparable prices?

I realize that you want to recoup some of your investment in your
site. But you are up against competition that is so far superior that
you will have a hard time of it. In my own case, since I have limited
money to spend, I would not pay even $10 per year for GitClub because
I would rather put my money into something that offers more value.

You were just told you fool. Why don't you take a look at this FREE site:

http://www.freechess.org and see what they offer, which is INFINITELY better
than GetClub. Or take a look at:

http://www.chessclub.com for the premier chess club on the Internet (otherwise
referred to as ICC for Internet Chess Club).

You offer nothing but the ability to play against onces own computer and have
stats stored on your site ... I can do that for free with Crafty and SCID or
any number of other UIs ... plus play for free at FICS. I have years worth of
credit at Playchess due to my purchases of chessbase products.

Why GetClub? No good reason at all ... other than you continually SPAM here.

Yes, I am upset after a few postings that I have seen from you lately.
