Disappointed with Rybka 2.2 by RocketMan
I have recently purchased the MP version of Rybka 2.2. Although I am only a 1500-1600 player, I managed to get a draw against the program. I have always been beaten soundly by the Chessbase engines (Fritz, Shredder, Junior etc.) on their 'top' level. Rybka didn't seem to recognize a 3-repetition position, so I managed a draw. Do you think that is a bug?? My system specs are AMD 64 X2...

wrote: Hi guys! Don't pull down your pants yet for a FIDE drug test, but I just incorporated in Wyoming. My Wyoming Corporation (the Charleston Chess Association, Inc.) wants to compete against Bill Goichberg. I therefore as a corporate officer apply in the name of the corporation for an affiliate ID with the United States Chess Federation.

Genius5 for DOS by M Winther
Genius5 (and Genius3) for DOS are the best programs for old computers. I have a 486 25MHz laptop, and Genius5 for DOS plays extremely well on this slow computer. This program is clearly to recommend if you want to make use of an old computer. I also have a strong computer running WinXP, but I seem unable to abandon DOS. Another example is TascBase for DOS, which I mentioned in another message,...

Achieving Your Chess Goals by John Evans
I just wrote an article on goal setting specifically geared towards chess. If you have so time give it a read and let me know what you think. I'm also starting a training regiment that I am going to record on my site. Any input would be greatly appreciated. http://growwithchess.com/2006/11/achieving-goals-chess-pursuit.html http://growwithchess.com/chess_training/chess_training_main.html

Computers vs. Humans by Ruud
Computers: They can't beat you, but you cán loose to them. Tragic, but Kramnik overlooked a mate in 1. Sadly for him, computers usually don't.

Which Chess software to buy? by brenjoe3@msn.com
I would like to know which is the best Chess playing software on the market these days. My requirements are such: 1. Ability to play a very strong game and that can be adjusted for lower levels 2. A training feature that allows a player with between 1700 and 2100 rating strength to improve on their middle game and tactics. 3. The ability to analyze one's game and indicate tactical...

How come the same chess engines do not draw ??? by SAT W-7
When two of the same Chess engines play each other , Fritz 9 vs Fritz 9 for example , how come they do not draw every game .. If they are all programmed the same way it seems like every game would be a draw .. Or is it that there are so many moves one mite pick a different move to try and win than draw?
